Computer Security What Is Computer SecurityComputer security is the protection of information systems from theft or damage to the hardware, the software, and to the information on them. Computer security is needed due to viruses (viruses are programs hackers wrote to automatically go into a computer and steal personal information like credit card info and rob you blind or damage your computer). There are many things viruses and hackers can get into and steal, disable or brake something like in financial systems, automobiles, the government, etc that is why we need computer security because hackers and viruses could kill us no problem without computer security. Who Was The First Person To Make Computer Security In 1987 two Pakistani men created the first computer virus to get into FBI mainframes and other big american agencies. So in 1989 the FBI got a whole bunch of computer programmers and to them to make a wall or a security code to block of any viruses or hackers. What Kinds Of Computer Security Is There There are three main types of computer security physical computer security, network security, and executable security. Physical security is the most simple, big corporations usually have important files on their computers so if someone gains access to that they could steal or damage a lot so they hire security guards and put up security doors so hackers don't gain access to those computers. Network security is very tricky, but it can be protected by a firewall like your home computer is. So if you want to protect your network you need several different layers of defense in case one fails, others still stand. You can protect yourself with many different things like anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and virtual private networks. How It Moved Computers Forward Computer security moved computers forward because it was needed due to the viruses and hackers so people were hired to make defenses for the hacker so they wouldn't get access to the computer. Since people were required to code and program these defenses they discovered new things about computers and how they could advance computers more.Links:http://www.cisco.com/cisco/web/solutions/small_business/resource_center/articles/secure_my_business/what_is_network_security/index.html?referring_site=smartnavRD https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_security http://www.brighthub.com/computing/smb-security/articles/61722.aspx
